Childcare Training for Low Literacy Immigrant Women
Program Description
Childcare Training for Low Literacy Immigrant Women program trains and assists low skilled immigrant women to obtain a Child Development Assistant Certificate. Clients receive English language enhancement, essential skill and employment skills training. The program is available to immigrant women with less than twelve years of education and Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 3-4 or higher. Eligible clients include permanent residents, refugees and Canadian citizens with language and cultural barriers.
Program Details
- 36 weeks of in-class training
- 8 weeks of work experience
- Gain skills required of a Child Development Assistant
- Computer training
- Canadian workplace preparation
- Employment skills training
Eligible Clients
The program is available to immigrant women with less than 12 years of education and Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 3-5. Eligible clients include permanent residents, refugees and Canadian citizens with language and cultural barriers.
Additional Program Information
- Child Development Assistant Certificate is offered in collaboration with Bow Valley College
- Work experience is offered in collaboration with businesses and non-profit organizations
- One-on-one mentoring support is available
- Job search help upon completion of program
- Follow-up support after program completion
- Referrals to other CIWA programs help participants access additional support services
The program offers one intake per year
