Past Chair - Sarah J King-D'Souza

Sarah J. King-D’Souza, Q.C. Immigrated from Scotland to Canada with family members. She has represented immigrants and their families though her career in a legal capacity. Sarah articled at the Alberta Court of Appeal and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1984. From 1984 to 2001 Sarah was in private practise. Since 2001, she has been an Assistant Senior Counsel at Family Law Offices (Legal Aid Alberta) for Calgary and Lethbridge. Her current areas of practice are Family Law and Law Office Management.  Board experience includes, since 2009, elected Bencher for the Law Society of Alberta.

Sarah is a member of Association of Collaborative Family Law Professionals in Calgary, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Canadian Bar Association, where she currently sits on CBA National Law Practice Management and Technology (LPM&T) Executive Committee and on the Standing Committee on Equality.

Sarah volunteers for Legal Education Society of Alberta (LESA) and Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) as requested.  She worked with Pro Bono Law Alberta and Calgary Legal Guidance in 2012 to arrange for the Family Law Office to provide monthly volunteer family law advice at the Centre for Newcomers Legal Clinic. She is the Secretary of Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club.
