Featuring the people behind CIWA’s governance: Meet Lori Craig, a member of CIWA’s Board of Directors.

Lori joined the Board as a Director in 2020 with a desire to better understand the challenges facing immigrant women and families in Calgary. She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) with a large part of her practice devoted to partnering with Indigenous communities in capacity building initiatives.

Lori values CIWA’s genuine desire to match each and every individual with the support they uniquely need through CIWA’s many programs and services. By building the capacity of individuals, the impact ripples towards their families and teams, who then go onto influence communities and organizations, inside out.

“CIWA’s mission to engage and integrate all immigrant women and their families in the community aligns closely with my life’s learning and work of celebrating diversity and building capacity using an inside out approach.”

Lori feels blessed to be part of working together with women and families to strengthen the global community. Her motivation to support CIWA as a Board member is expressed in a quote from an Australian activist, Lilla Watson: “If you have come here to help me you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound with mine, then let us work/walk together”.

Lori is currently an Independent Human Resources/Organizational Effectiveness Consultant at Red Sage Consulting. She has travelled and worked in many different communities around the world, where she has felt welcomed and embraced. As a third generation Canadian, she feels honored to welcome and embrace immigrant families in Canada.

Thank you, Lori, for your commitment to help CIWA empower immigrant women and enrich Canadian society.
