Meet Victoria. She is a Pebbles in the Sand Facilitator and a graduate of the Links to Success program.

Victoria immigrated to Canada from Nigeria with her husband and son; she brought along over 4 years of experience in teaching, a Certificate in Education, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Benin in Nigeria under her belt.

Victoria started off as a client at CIWA, completing the Links to Success: Skills Enhancement & Internships for Young Immigrant Mothers program. We are proud to say that currently she works at CIWA as a Facilitator in the Pebbles in the Sand program where she helps immigrant women like herself overcome the same challenges she faced when she first immigrated to Canada. Specifically, as a Pebbles in the Sand facilitator she helps immigrant women learn to read and write, provides one-on-one language support and mentoring, and supports them with accessing community resources.

Victoria is passionate about working with immigrant women because she is an immigrant woman herself and understands how difficult it can be to settle in a new country. She believes the majority of immigrant women face the same challenges in adjusting to a new environment and hopes to provide support to others in their settlement and integration into Canadian culture.

Victoria loves working at CIWA because of the team environment. She enjoys being a part of a team that is welcoming and supportive of one another. Outside of work, Victoria enjoys swimming, going to the gym, and spending time with her family.
