CIWA launches Cross Age Peer (CAP) Mentoring project

CIWA is pleased to announce a new initiative. Cross Age Peer Mentoring project will offer activities that enhance supports for 20-30 immigrant girls between the ages of 9 to 18 who will be paired with older mentors (girls at least three years or school grades higher) who can relate to the challenges mentees face when settling in a new country and adjusting to a new culture. As a part of the project, mentees will be engaged in a yearlong mentoring relationship with cross-age peer mentors. The goal is to enhance social inclusion and supports for at risk immigrant girls through activities that empowers them to overcome obstacles and isolation, develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to make healthy decisions, and build positive, supportive relationships.
